Cultural poverty in Europes Richest country................

Feeling sad and frustrated today and wondering how to turn
these negative feelings into some positive action.

Why in Norways *rich* land do the authorities use so little of their
resources on Kultural education for their children?

Coming from my childhood in Scotland thats was not priviledge by any means
I was brought up to take certain things for granted. Music, Dance, Song etc. Here it seems that funding is cut or too low for many cultural activites. School Band has had cuts in funding, very few places available in the community for other activities such as dancing and learning of musical instruments.

The opportunities that exist are down to the efforts of the hardworking
few parents and interested people that take the time and effort to help.

On the other hand if one happens to live in West End of Oslo there are
suddenly more opportunities due to more funding. Of course in the area where the highest earning familys live there are many more opportunities.

Due to this lack of resources the attitude of many in this area seems to me to be very much 'I'm alright Jack' What I mean by this is that people have a tendency to look out themselves and not really bother about others.

A very Sad state of affairs. I feel I do not want to fall into this attitude so need to take some action...... watch this space.

  1. My feeling is that Norway is obsessed with money, wealth and the status that it affords. If you look at the business environment in Norway, to be a leader, a a manager, to succeed, you need to be an economist. Economics is an art, not a science as it is reliant on theoretical assumptions.
They do not truly understand the importance of culture and the richness that it imbues within a society and how it keeps history and the story of how a society got to where it is alive.
It is a similar situations with healthcare, the infrastructure, education...if they cannot see a way to make a profit quickly, they are not interested.
